Leah Lewman Laird
Leah Lewman Laird is an artist working in mixed media, painting and drawing. Her current work focuses on the struggle between man-made structures and natural forces. A recent bosy of work - Erasing Places - was inspired by the recurring flood in her hometown of Ellicott City, MD. Laird has exhibited her work in spaces across the country, including the University of Arizona Museum of Art and Davis Dominguez Gallery in Tucson AZ, Zhou B. Art Center in Chicago, IL, Circle Gallery in Annapolis, MD, and VisArts Center in Rockville, MD.
Lewman received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting in 2013 from Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD. In May 2017, she received an MFA in 2D Studio Art at the University of Arizona, Tucson, where she served for 3 years as Instructor of Record. She has taught as a professor at the University of Maryland College Park and Frederick Community College. From 2021-2023, she served as the Head of Visual Arts at Oldfields School in Sparks Glencoe, MD. She currently lives and works as a visual artist in the Baltimore, MD area.
