Whole Town Underwater
Whole Town Underwater
Erasing Places is a body of work that has documented the time following her years in Arizona. Living, once again, in her home state of Maryland, she reflects on the flooding of her hometown, Ellicott City, as well as the devastating wildfires on the opposite coast. She dissects real and invented buildings, placing them in imaginative waters/flames that engulf them or carry them off. The paintings document the structures themselves, but also the memories they represent. They also acknowledge the mutual threat of “erasure” for these two very important places in her heart - Tucson, AZ and Ellicott City, MD.
